3D Printing Programme

3D Printing Programme

Here in TCS we were delighted to take part in a new 3D printing programme which only 5 schools in Ireland have been chosen for. We have 30 TY students taking part in this fantastic opportunity which has been made available to us by Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR). It means that our students, over a course of a few months, get to work towards solving a problem with the use of a 3D printer. Our 30 students have been meeting every week and have had various workshops with IMR, FIT (Fast track to IT) and had a site visit to Prodieco- Advanced Engineering Solutions, our company sponsor. Through all of this, our students are learning about the industry and gaining beginner skills that will stand to them in the future. The aim of the programme is all about upskilling students and sparking excitement and enthusiasm in Advanced Manufacturing and STEM.

Through all of this, our TYs are working towards the end goal: the final competition. They will compete against the other school where each will make their very own creation with the 3D printer and give a presentation. We were delighted to be gifted a 3D printer through the programme and we look forward to seeing the great creations that we produce in the final competition.
