Maths Week Activities
We celebrated international 'Maths Week Ireland 2020' here at TCS last week. The Maths Department ran numerous activities with their classes which included quizzes, murder mysteries, code breakers and the infamous pirate game.
Some TY students created their own Maths Trail across the school and school grounds for our very own First Year students. These TY students also helped to run the trail on the day to see their work in action. It was a massive success as students and teachers both loved the activity. Well done to all those involved!
Some senior students went back to their childhood times and designed a Maths/Fitness hopscotch on the school grounds. They came up with fantastic designs and became very competitive as they timed each other on the different hopscotches. This also allowed other students to enjoy their hopscotches during break and lunch time. (Please see the video and photos attached).
Other senior students battled it out to become tiktok famous as they practiced the 'African Hopscotch' which involved learning a new dance routine, counting the beat and working as part of a team. (Please see the videos attached).
Finally, we finished off the week with a staff quiz. Well done to Ms. Moran, Ms Reilly and Mr Dunne who were this year's winners! Make sure to check our twitter page if you missed the daily Maths tricks shared by Ms Coulon.
The week was thoroughly enjoyable for both students and teachers and a welcomed distraction during these times
