School Reopening January 6th 2022

Back to School Arrangements: Wednesday January 5th 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Firstly, I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and I hope that you and your family are keeping well.
Following the Government announcement on the 4th January we look forward to welcoming all our students back after the Christmas break.

As we are all aware, the transmission of Covid-19 within the community has increased hugely and has become a real cause for concern for us all. I wish to take this opportunity to remind parents/guardians of the expectations we have of our students on their return to school and to remind you of the protocols in place.

The priority is that you please keep an eye on your son/daughter and check for the symptoms of Covid-19. These can include some or all of the following:
• fever (temperature of 38◦C or higher),
• cough, sore throat, or a runny nose
• shortness of breath,
• any loss or change to the senses of smell or taste,
• headache,

If students are sick or are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, they must stay at home. You should then contact their GP for advice regarding a COVID-19 test. I would also like to reinforce the public health guidelines to protect the health of pupils, staff and your wider family. These include:
• Wearing masks
• Cleaning hands regularly
• Maintaining physical distancing

The rules regarding close contacts and the restrictions in place for them have also changed. Please follow the link below to see the most up-to-date information, https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/covid19/contact-tracing/close-contact/ . For students you have to restrict movements or isolate please ensure to check your MSTeams pages for class work posted by teachers.

With the reopening of the school we will continue to follow all public health advice to ensure a safe environment for your son/daughter. With this in mind, can I ask you to ensure that your son/daughter is reminded of the following:
• That they must bring a mask with them every day and have spare masks in their bag.
• Mask should be worn correctly at all times when in the school building, i.e. when walking through the corridors and in the classroom
• The mask should fit correctly and be above the nose at all times
• Sanitise hands as they enter and leave the class

Thank you as always for your continued support and co-operation in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Aidan Lynch
