Tallaght Community School

Welcome Back Letter to Parents and Students.

19-August-22

19th August 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you and your families are keeping well and have had a safe and enjoyable summer break.

Thankfully this year we reopen the school without the restrictions we have had to face over the last two years. Along with this, we are entering into a significant year for the school as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of education in Tallaght Community School. We look forward to the celebrations and events that will take place throughout the year to mark this significant milestone.

We also have the thrilling news of a new school building that has been sanctioned by the Department of Education. We are in the early stages of this project but we will keep parents and students informed as we have more information on this exciting project.

The return schedule for students is outlined below. Students must be in full school uniform for their induction morning. Students do not need to bring in books for their induction. All they will need on the day is a pen and paper.

Uniform

A reminder to parents that the details of the school uniform including the PE uniform are available on our website at the following link: https://tallaghtcs.ie/page/Uniform/72892/Index.html

Students are only permitted to wear fully black shoes/runners and a black/navy school jacket.

Attendance

As a school community this year we will be putting an extra emphasis on student attendance. It is vitally important that all students attend school every day unless there is a valid reason. Any absence from school must been communicated to the school through the VSware app or directly with the Year Head. Following the interruptions and restriction over the last two academic years it is important that we build back the good habits of excellent attendance needed for your son/daughter to reach their full potential.

School Buses

Dublin Bus will be providing 2 school bus services (27*) for Tallaght Community School. They will be in operation from Thursday 1st September. All the details can be found on the school website. https://tallaghtcs.ie/page/School-Bus/138854/Index.html

School Canteen

The school will continue to provide free school meals to all students with a staggered use of the canteen through extended serving times. Students will be offered food in the morning, small break and lunch time.

VSware School App

A reminder to all parents to download and set up your VSware account which will have all the details for your child in the school. The VSware app will be used on a regular basis and will be a vital means of communication between school and parents. Should you have any issues in setting this up, please contact the school office.

We look forward to meeting you in the near future, welcoming all students back to school and preparing them for the coming academic year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Yours Sincerely,

Aidan Lynch

Principal
