Debating

Debating

Our debating group in TCS is a great opportunity for students to develop their public speaking skills. Students learn how to work as part of a team, plan how to write a speech and develop their points. Students grow in confidence as they improve their debating skills and how to refute an argument. Research skills is also a huge focus for students and there is also the option for students to get involved who would prefer to take a research role before they move on to public speaking.

Each year we take part in the Concern Debates National competition, learning about a range of human rights and development issues. We also take part in competitions run by Trinity College’s Philosophy Society, taking part in their annual PhilSpeaks competitive weekend.
