2022 marks the celebration of 50 years of “Excellence in Education” for Tallaght Community School. As the first community school to open its doors in 1972, we have been at the forefront for everything that is special about the community school model.
This wonderful milestone will be celebrated throughout this year. Congratulations from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin, President Michael D Higgins and Minister for Education Norma Foley, highlights our contribution to the community and outlines the great plans for our TCS future.

We celebrate our TCS students who have come through the school during the last 50 years, approximately 7500 students, without these students there would be no school. While they have been lucky to be part of the many wonderful classes and witnessed the innovation in the classroom, they have also experienced much more than that. They will all remember the other extra and co-curricular activities that students have had the opportunity to experience in the last 50 years and continue to experience. Whether this has been in the sporting arena, through drama or the arts, through debating, the foreign trips and trips to the Gaelteacht, the Christmas dinner, The list goes on and on.
We can be sure that the student body have had the opportunity to experience a fully holistic education, which has prepared them and will continue to prepare them to be the responsible citizens, with a strong sense of shared values with a view to contributing to a just and fair society. We thank our past pupils for begin proud to say “I am from Tallaght Community School”.
Our TCS parents have placed their trust in us to educate their children and prepare them for life after post-primary school. The co-operation between the school and our parents, continues to grow and we look forward to building on this into the future. There are many family connections within TCS. We currently have students whose parents and grandparents have graduated from TCS. Again, this gives another example of how the school is embedded in the community. We truly are a school for the generations!
